Position Summary & Duties:
The Electrical Engineer is a 3-6 month contract position working with a specialty chemical client in the Great Falls, Montana area.

The Electrical Engineer would act as a turnaround (TA) coordinator working with three different work teams to create an integrated plan and schedule for the TA coming up in August. This position would ideally require a hands-on electrical engineer or senior electrical planner to consult with the project team. The candidate will need to apply their knowledge of industrial electrical equipment, design, codes, and industry standards to create and improve the electrical specification and electrical standards for the facility.

Electrical Engineer Job Description:
• The Electrical Engineer will plan for temporary power needs while project work is ongoing, and would act as the central point of coordination during the turnaround (TA) work execution.
Project Work Groups/Streams are as follows:
RD Project – a major capital project that has several electrical work scopes during the TA
• Site Substation Project – a separate project that is replacing an existing plant substation
• TA Maintenance work – routine electrical equipment maintenance that can only occur during a site outage
Other Essential Job Duties:
• Gain technical proficiency through assigned tasks and daily interactions
• Learn Company processes and procedures
• Perform calculations necessary for specifying electrical and/or instrumentation equipment, as well as Voltage Drop, Conduit Sizing, Cable Tray Sizing, etc.
• Prepare specifications for electrical and/or instrumentation equipment and materials
• Collaborate with drafters and designers to produce and edit drawing deliverables
• Utilize AutoCAD LT to make minor changes to drawing deliverables.
• Utilize engineering software to help assist Lead with project deliverables and calculations
• Begin to learn fundamentals of project status reporting, scheduling and manpower planning
• Begin to learn and understand project workflow for electrical and instrumentation disciplines
• Perform engineering support tasks, as required, such as making copies, updating PCATS drawing log, assembling and keeping up with stick files, gathering information for job books, etc.
 

Qualifications:
Education/Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5-8 years of related experience in industrial electrical design, preferably in a petrochemical facility or other manufacturing environment. 
• 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
• More than 3 years of work experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry
• Ability to understand P&IDs
• Familiar with NEC codes and IEC standards
• Familiar with designing 24V- 480V electrical distribution systems
• Familiar with DCS automation and process control systems
• Good communication skills
Candidates must be located within daily commuting distance of the Great Falls, Montana area, or be willing to relocate for the term of the contract.
